Robert Joseph GregoreRobert Joseph Gregore passed away peacefully after a long bout of cancer at his sons's home in Wilmington, Delaware on December 2, 2016. Robert (Bob) was born on Oct. 2, 1929 to Mildred J. Madden and Emile S. Gregore. Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia Joan, in Jan., 2000, and by his daughter, Kimberly Ann, in Mar., 1976. Bob is survived by his son, Kevin K. (Dale), his daughter, Carol Borris (Jamie), and his four grandchildren, Sloane, Aidan, Caitlin and Julian, and many friends. Bob attended West Catholic High School and West Chester State Teachers College in Pa. It was at West Chester where he met the love of his life, Pat Kelley, in English class. Bob served the 8221st Army Unit, earning the rank of Sergeant and a
Bronze Star while in Korea. Pat and Bob married in June, 1953 and settled in Media, Pa. Bob graduated from West Chester with his degree in Mathematics & Geography and he began his teaching and soccer coaching career in Pa., later moving to Delaware. Bob earned his Masters of Science in Education from the Univ. of Penn. Bob spent the majority of his years teaching and coaching soccer at Concord H.S. Bob retired in 1991 at age 62; he had taught for 35 years and coached for 22 years. Bob loved spending time with family and friends, golfing, reading, and watching ALL sports competitions, including all of his grandchildren's games. Bob was known for his thoughtfulness, his calm demeanor and his humor. Bob attended every family event and his family just adored him. Bob never lost his love of Mathematics! He loved doing Sudoku puzzles and crossword puzzles in pen! The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and therapists from Christiana Hospital, Wilmington Hospital and Rehab; Visiting Nurses Association and Seasons Hospice for their expert and compassionate care. A memorial service will be held at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE at 11:00 am, on Wed., Dec. 28. The family will greet friends and relatives beginning at 9:30 am. Burial will take place at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd, Bear, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Bob's name to Paralyzed Veterans of America, 7 Mill Brook Road, Wilton, NH 03086 or the Helen F.
