Florence Poteat passed away on February 1, 2025, in New Castle, Delaware, United States. She was born on September 3, 1942, to Daniel Richard Black and Anna Marie Black. Florence is survived by her partner, John W. Poteat, and their four children: George J. Thompson, John W. Poteat Jr., Lovella N. Poteat, and Robert D. Poteat with spouse Erica Poteat. She also leaves behind 10 beloved grandchildren.

Florence attended Henry Highland Garnet High School and graduated in 1960 before furthering her education at Bowie State University. She dedicated many years of her life to working as a caregiver, providing love and support to those in need.

She will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and unwavering love for her family. Florence's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
