Lt. Colonel Richard M. Lane, Sr.Springfield, VALt. Colonel Richard M. Lane, Sr, Ret. USAF, 71 of Springfield, VA, son of Abe and Carolyn Lane passed away on July 9th, 2017. He was born on October 30th, 1945 in Knoxville, TN. After graduation from FSU he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the USAF. He served in the US, Thailand, Japan and Philippines. After leaving the Air Force he worked for FEMA and Booz Allen Hamilton. He is survived by his father Abe Lane of Knoxville, TN and wife Claudia Lane of Springfield, VA and sons Richard M. Lane, Jr. and Michael A. Lane. He is also survived by grandsons, Adam, Dean, and Lukas; sister, Joy Holloway and niece, Jennie Free. Rick leaves a permanent place in our hearts---always loved, never forgotten, forever missed.Funeral and burial with honors will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
