Marlin Windell Law, 86, passed away on October 28, 2016, at Farmington Square Memory Care. A memorial service with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. on November 16, 2016, at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel, 2201 N. Phoenix Road in Medford, Ore., with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to or Providence Hospice of Medford, Oregon. Marlin was born on Dec. 29, 1929 in Spring Garden to Herbert Slaughter Law and Minnie Estelle Connell. After growing up in Piedmont, he joined the Air Force where he served over 22 years. He was stationed at bases all over the U.S., from Alaska to Maine and the Philippine Islands. He also spent nine months in Germany, assisting with the Berlin Airlift (1948/1949). Marlin married Doris Ellen Doige on July 17, 1950, in Columbus, Mississippi. He graduated high school and joined the
U.S. Air Force in October 1946 as a Career Non-commissioned Officer, retiring at Elmendorf AFB in March 1969. Marlin started Alaska Recreation Equipment shortly after retiring. Marlin enjoyed hunting and fishing, flying his airplane, gardening and rebuilding cars. He was a member of the Elmendorf Flying Club, the Non-commissioned Officers Club, Ducks Unlimited and the NRA. After almost 50 years in Alaska, he moved to Oregon in 2008. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Doris, of Medford, Ore.; sons, Jerry W. (Connie) Law, of Brookings, Ore., and Herbert C. (Iris) Law, of Portland, Ore.; daughters, Mary Ellen (Ted) Perez, of Eagle Point, Ore., Linda K. (Ken) Reeves, of Anchorage, Alaska, Patricia J. Hartman, of Eagle River, Alaska, and Ann Marie (Jim) DeVito, of Hubbard, Ore.; sister, Mary Ruth Wilson, of Cedartown, Ga.; brother, H. S. (Carolyn) Law Jr., of Piedmont; 20 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Slaughter Law; mother, Minnie Estelle Connell; son, Marlin Windell Law Jr.; brother, Eugene Law; sister, Audrey Law; brothers, Ottis Law, Emmett Law, Everett Law, Lindy Law, Glen Law, William Law and Stanley Law.
