Mario CafiniAGE: 85 • WilmingtonMario Cafini, age 85, died peacefully on Thursday, October 20, 2016. He was born on December 2, 1930 in Pescara Del Tronto, Italy to the late Attilio and Celeste Cafini. Mario served in the Italian Army. In 1965, he, along with his wife and daughters, immigrated to the USA, residing in Wilmington, DE.Mario was a faithful and longtime member of St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church in Wilmington, DE, where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Pius X and volunteered at their monthly spaghetti dinners. He also volunteered his time at St. Anthony's Annual Italian Festival. Mario was a kind and generous man. He was employed by Schmidt Baking Company and then with the City of Wilmington until his retirement in 1995.Mario is survived by his wife of 62 years, Colomba and his daughters, China Tassone and her husband, Corrado, and Albina Riley and her husband, Tom. He is also survived by his 5 adoring grandchildren, Francesca Scarpato (Nick), Angela Charles (Chris), Teresa Alfieri (Mike), Danielle Burket (Joe) and Thomas Riley (Kim-Marie) and 5 adoring great grandchildren, a step great grandson and a future great grandchild due in April, 2017. Mario is also survived by 2 brothers, Alberico (Vincenza) of Townsend, DE and Angelo (Mirella) of Rome, Italy, as well as several loving nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Alfredo, Ovilio and Fernando.Relatives and friends may visit on Thursday, October 27 from 10 AM to 11:45 AM at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, 901 N. DuPont St., Wilmington DE, where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 Noon. Entombment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, 2400 Lancaster Ave., Wilmington, DE.
