In Loving Memory of Nana Jane

Forever Loved, Never Forgotten, Always Our Nana Jane.

With hearts full of love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Jane Ford Hughes, affectionately known to so many as “Nana Jane.” Born on July 13, 1964, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the late Martin Ford and Rebecca Kish, Jane lived a life defined by her strength, unwavering love for her family, and the countless memories she created with those closest to her.

Jane was a woman of remarkable strength and determination. Strong-willed, outspoken, and fiercely devoted to the people she loved, she was never one to shy away from speaking her mind or standing up for her family. Beneath that strong exterior was a heart that loved deeply, especially when it came to her children and grandchildren.

Being a mother and grandmother was among Jane’s greatest joys. She was a constant presence in the lives of her children and grandchildren, celebrating their accomplishments, supporting them through life’s challenges, and making sure they always knew how much they were loved.

Following the heartbreaking loss of her daughter, Janet Leigh Castaneda, Jane lovingly stepped into the role of raising Janet’s three children, Diego, Larkin, and Christian. With the same strength and devotion that defined her life, she made sure they were surrounded by the love, guidance, and family they deserved. Her commitment to them was a beautiful reflection of the kind of mother and grandmother she was.

To her grandchildren, she was simply Nana Jane ; their biggest supporter, their cheerleader, and someone they could always count on. Whether she was cheering proudly from the sidelines at her granddaughter Kinsley’s dance competitions, spending precious time with Kirsten and her children , or simply enjoying the company of her family, Jane found her greatest happiness in the people she loved.

Family gatherings held a special place in Jane’s heart, especially her beloved annual Thanksgiving dinners. For Jane, Thanksgiving was more than a holiday. It was an opportunity to bring everyone together, share laughter, create memories, and surround herself with the people who meant the most to her. Those gatherings will forever remain treasured memories for her family.

And no tribute to Nana Jane would be complete without mentioning her beloved four-legged companion, Michael Jackson. Her faithful 14-year-old dog was truly her pride and joy. The two were practically inseparable, and anyone who knew Jane knew that wherever she was, Michael Jackson was never far behind. Their special bond brought her tremendous comfort, companionship, and happiness.

Jane was preceded in death by her loving parents, Martin Ford and Rebecca Kish, and her beloved daughter, Janet Leigh Castaneda.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving children, Kyle (Kristen) Hughes and Kaitlyn Hughes; her treasured grandchildren, Diego Castaneda, Christian Castaneda, Larkin Eastburn, Kirsten Oyuela, and Kinsley Hughes; her siblings, Allen Ford , Debbie Johnson , Gregory Kish her beloved companion, Michael Jackson; and many extended family members and loved ones whose lives were touched by her presence.

In accordance with Jane’s and her family’s wishes, cremation has been chosen, and no formal funeral service will be held. The family asks that those who knew and loved Jane honor her memory by holding their loved ones a little closer, sharing a cherished memory, and remembering the beautiful moments spent together.

Forever our Momma. Forever our Nana Jane. Forever in our hearts. ❤️
