Helen R. LenhardtAGE: 93 • NewarkHelen R. Lenhardt, age 93, of Newark, DE, and formerly of Sebring, FL, returned to Heaven while surrounded by family members, on Sunday, October 1, 2017, at Brookdale White Chapel where she resided.Helen was born on August 4, 1924 in Delaware City, DE, and was the daughter of the late Antony and Anna (Denaki) Zeuris. She graduated from Delaware City High School, where she played on the basketball team. On June 22, 1946, Helen married the love of her life, Henry J. "Lenny" Lenhardt. The couple shared over 61 years together and were blessed with 2 daughters, Patricia Ann and Linda Jane. In addition to working for the Red Cross during WWII, Helen was employed part-time at the post office in Delaware City. She spent the majority of her career working as a loan officer at the Delaware City branch of Wilmington Trust, retiring after 27 years of service. After retiring, she and Lenny moved to Florida, where they would spend 20 happy years.In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Henry John in 2007; stepfather, Willis; sister, Mary; brother, Stanley; grandson, Ted; and nephew, Francis. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia "Patti" Lester and Linda Bergeron (Edward); sister, Josephine; and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen has 3 living grandchildren, Darren Lester (Denise), Shelley Olski (Joe), and Brian Bergeron. "Granny" was also loved by her 9 great-grandchildren, Brett, Brianna, Kaylee, Nathan, Paulie, Ryan, Victoria, Madison, and Cole.The family wishes to thank the staff at Brookdale White Chapel and Delaware Hospice and Dr. Maria Lazar for their compassionate care.A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:45 am until 10:45 am on Thursday morning, October 12, 2017, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 214 Clinton Street, Delaware City, DE, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial which will be offered at 11:00 am at St. Paul's R.C. Church, 209 Washington Street, Delaware City. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate memorial contributions to St. Paul's R.C.
