On Saturday, March 16, 2024, Caridad Santiago Garcia, beloved wife and mother of two, passed away at age 87. A dedicated caregiver who always kept family first, Caridad helped take care of her younger siblings when her family was driven into the Philippines jungle during World War II. She gained from this upbringing the strength and courage to strike out on her own, move to the United States to become a dual citizen, and embark on a 50-year career in nursing. It was this decision that eventually brought her together with the love of her life, Agapito, who became her husband. They were together for 33 years until his death.
Caridad was a gifted gardener and a tireless landscaper who loved a day digging in the dirt. She also loved to cook, to dance, and to gossip with her Filipino contingent. She was a master Mahjong player and was always up for a quick trip to Vegas or Black Hawk to visit her slot machine friends.
Caridad’s first and most important concern was always her family and their welfare. She will be remembered for this, as well as her generosity, humor, and love of laughter. She is survived by her two children, Joey and Lisa. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 11:00 am., at the St. Mary Catholic Parish, located at 6853 S. Prince St., Littleton, Colorado.
