Cooper, age 94, of Newark, DE, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2017.Agnes was born on the Eastern shore of Virginia in the city of Modest Town on April 26, 1923, and was the daughter of the late John and Vida (Ross) Wessells. She was a graduate of Goldey College. In addition to caring for her family, Agnes made her career as a secretary at the Meadowood School, retiring in 1985 after many years of service.A woman of strong faith, she was a 50 year member of the White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church in Newark, where she gave of her time and talents in many capacities. She adored the ocean and visiting Rehoboth Beach and fondly remembered her trip abroad to Europe, trips to Florida, and visiting her family back home in Virginia and Maryland. A beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Agnes will be lovingly missed by all.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion E. Cooper. Agnes is survived by her sons, John E. Cooper (Stephanie) of Newark and Gary R. Cooper (Ellen) of Stoneham, MA; grandchildren, Kimberly Cooper, Peter Cooper (Rebecca), Thomas Cooper, Angela Cooper, and Paul Cooper; and great grandchildren, Domynic and Ariyanna.A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Friday morning, October 27, 2017, at the White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, 15 Polly Drummond Hill Road, Newark, DE 19711, where a funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church at the address listed above.
