William E. Grabow was born on Sept. 10, 1924, in Livingston, Montana, and died Oct. 18, 2016, in Bozeman, Montana. He served in the U.S. Army in 1942 for four years where he was involved with General Patton's Third Army in France, Belgium and Germany including the Battle of the Bulge. Returning from the war, he attended Montana State College (currently MSU) and graduated with a degree in Architecture. He worked with Fred Willson and then started his own practice to include projects such as the Field House, MSU residence halls, Gallatin Valley Historical Museum, several public schools and many local buildings in Gallatin County. He married Charlotte Spain and had four children. They were married for 53 years. He served as Mayor of Bozeman from 1972 to 1973. He was one of the founding fathers of Gallatin Valley Presbyterian Church later to be Trinity Church of Bozeman. Because of his belief in the saving grace of Jesus Christ, Bill is gathered with his ancestors in heaven. His and Charlotte's heritage leave behind four children, none divorced: Robin Cory married to Carl Nichols, Kurt Grabow married to Mary, Gary Grabow married to Julie, and Libby Wilkins married to Doug; and eighteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren with many nieces, nephews, cousins in a very large extended family. Donations may be made in his memory to Trinity Church, 4720 Classical Way, Bozeman, MT 59718 or the Architecture Department of MSU, P.O. Box 173760, Bozeman, MT 59717. A memorial will be in November. Arrangements are in the care of Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service. www.dokkennelson.com
