William Bruce Taylor, 90, of Round Bay in Severna Park died October 8, 2016 of a heart attack. He was born on April 17, 1926 and spent his childhood in Big Island, VA. He served in the United States Navy from 1944-1946. He graduated from VMI with a degree in Civil Engineering. Bruce's career was spent with Bethlehem Steel Corporation, which he joined in 1949. He retired in 1982 as Resident Manager of its Washington, DC sales office. Bruce loved reading, especially newspapers. He was an avid tennis player, golfer and biker. He exercised strenuously and walked daily. When he walked, he spoke with everyone he met. He particularly loved little children and the highlights of this year were the birth of his first great-granddaughter and great-grandson. He was a kind man with a great zest for life. Bruce was preceded in death by his sister, Marion Jeanne Block in 1990. His wife Mary Janet Taylor died in 1991. He is survived by their children, a son, Chip Taylor and his wife Anita and a daughter, Mary Paige Taylor, four grandchildren, Rachel Hinton, Josh Anderson, Matthew Taylor and Meghan Taylor and one great-grandson, Wyatt James. In 1994, Bruce married Anna May Cahill and joined another full family who survive him. A daughter, Susan Cahill Taylor and her husband, Richard, a son, John J Cahill III, his wife Cathy and five grandchildren, Jenny Partington and her husband, Josh, Richie Taylor, John J Cahill IV, and Ryon Cahill and his first great-grandchild, Lily Partington. He had very dear and caring friends, Kathy and Bryant Averyt. Bruce Taylor was a past member of Belle Haven Country Club, Congressional Country Club, Chartwell County Club, Spanish Wells Club, and South Carolina Yacht Club. A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 1:00pm at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church (375 Benfield Rd, Severna Park, MD 21146). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to St. Martin-in-the-Fields Rectors Discretionary Fund. Online condolences may be made at www.barrancofuneralhome.com
