Mr. Wendell Bennett, 78, of Edisto Island, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025. 

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Bennett; his children, Joshua Bennett, Shavonna Bennett, Kathy Heyward (Nathaniel), Wendell Richardson, and Tiffany Richardson; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Hallie Bennett, Glen Avon Bennett Sr., Desmond Bennett (Gilda), Rodney Bennett, and Ida Wright. He is also remembered by his uncle, Solomon Robinson; mother-in-law, Pearl Wright; bonus daughter, Valencia Wright; in-laws, Calvin Wright (Georgia), Raleigh Wright (Pat), Geneva Wright, and Shirley Gadsden; as well as a special cousin and friend, Cathy Hutchinson, and her son, Ronnie Hutchinson. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by his children, Reginald Richardson, Martez Bennett, and Cordell Bennett; grandson, Jaxson Bennett; parents, Glen Bennett Sr. and Edna W. Bennett; siblings, Permon Bennett, Nathaniel Bennett, Ethel Bennett, Kathleen Bennett, Franklin Bennett, Lillian Frost, and Barbara Bennett; uncle, Ivory Robinson; and father-in-law, Isiah Wright. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Allen AME Church in Edisto Island, South Carolina. Interment will follow at Zion Reformed Episcopal Church in Edisto Island. A viewing will take place one hour before the service. 

Mr. Bennett’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
