Williamson, Lt. Col. (USAF retired), WayneWayne Robert Williamson, 68, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away on September 10, 2017, in the peace and comfort of his home surrounded by those he loved.He was born on September 18, 1948, in Elmira, New York. He was the first son of the late Willis Malean Williamson and the late Virginia Anne (Talasleian) Foster.Wayne was the loving husband of Sandra Jean Martin for 49 years and the greatest pride in his life was his two children; Tara and Chane. Spending time with his family brought him great joy. He was a warm and loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was extremely patriotic, ethical and moral in all aspects of his life. He was an avid runner. He participated in marathons and triathlons sometimes in foreign countries. He loved college football favoring both Virginia Tech and Alabama.After Wayne graduated from Horseheads High School in 1966, he received his undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo through the Air Force ROTC program and was the last cadet to be commissioned there in 1971. He received his Master's degree from Troy State University and later earned an ABD from Cornell University in 1979.Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for almost 41 years. He served 23 years on active duty and 18 years Civil Service.He was predeceased by his stepmother Florence Eleanor (Manley) Williamson, his younger brother Richard Mark Williamson and a brother-in-law John Allen Conner Jr.He is survived by his wife of Sandra Jean (Martin) Williamson; a daughter, Tara Jenae (Williamson) White and her husband Robert of Atlanta, Georgia; a son, Chane Richerd Williamson and his wife Carolyn of Jamesville, New York; two granddaughters, Tyler Cameron Speaks, of Atlanta, Georgia and Katherine Elaine Williamson, of Jamesville, New York; three grandsons, Brennan Chase Speaks, of Atlanta, Georgia, Kieran Chane Williamson and Cameron Ronald Williamson, both of Jamesville, New York. He is survived by a brother, Mark Taylor Williamson, of Grand Island, New York; four sisters, Cheryl Ann (Williamson) Sasseville and her husband Peter of Oshawa, Canada, Sharon Lynne Conner of Austin, Texas, Toni Michelle Prevette of Los Angeles, and Susan Marie Stedge and her husband Mark of Pine City, New York; plus nieces and nephews; a great niece and great nephews.The family extends a special thank you to the Hospice Atlanta Visiting Nurses team for their care during his illness at home the past two years.Visitation and Service will be held H.M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel 173 Allen Road NE, Sandy Springs, GA at 10 AM on Saturday, September 16th, 2017. A military burial with full honors will immediately follow at Arlington Memorial Park cemetery 201 Mount Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, GA.
