MYERSWayne L. Wayne L. Myers, 76, of Toledo, OH, formerly of Decatur, IN, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at in Toledo. He was born on November 1, 1940 in Decatur, IN, to Paul L. and Maxine M. (Stump) Myers. On May 25, 1963, he married Sharon K. Mattax. He was a 1958 graduate of Monmouth High School. He studied business at Ball State University and was also a graduate of Harvard Advanced Management Program. Wayne spent his entire working career with the Dana Corporation, beginning in 1959, where he began as a machine operator with the Spicer Axle Division in Ft. Wayne. Over the years he received many promotions within the company and through his hard work and dedication worked his way up from the bottom. He travelled extensively throughout the world for Dana and eventually was promoted to the President of the Automotive Axle Division. After 41 years of service, he retired in 2000.Wayne and his wife were members of the Decatur Church of God until they moved to Toledo. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed working in his greenhouse. He loved giving away vegetables he had grown to friends and strangers alike. Around the holidays he found great joy in giving away his poinsettias. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharon K. Myers of Toledo, OH; his mother, Maxine M. Myers of Decatur, IN; a son, Craig W. (Jacqueline) Myers of St. Peters, MO; a daughter, Sheri Lyn Myers of Toledo, OH; 2 sisters, Kathy (William) Rickord of Springfield, OH and Kay (Michael) Baker of Ft. Wayne, IN; 3 grandchildren, Rachel (Nick) Sampl, Nicolas Myers, Haley Myers. Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Paul L. Myers and his daughter, Shelley Kay Myers.Visitation will be from 12:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Dr. Robert Brink and burial will take place in the Decatur Cemetery.
