BURLINGTON, - Warren F. Ranker, Age 73, of Burlington, passed away at his home on Friday, January 27, 2012. Warren was born on February 26, 1938 in Burlington, to the late Frank and Dorothy (nee: Miller) Ranker. He had been a lifetime resident of Burlington and a graduate of Burlington High School. Warren had gone on to attend the Milwaukee School of Engineering for refrigeration and had also earned his pilot's license. On June 17, 1961 at Spring Prairie United Methodist Church, Warren was united in marriage to Ethel J. Licht. Together they made their home in Burlington and have celebrated 50 years of marriage. Warren worked as a refrigeration service man for Bigelow Refrigeration, Real Refrigeration and Advantage Refrigeration, retiring in April of 2004. For 45 years he was a member of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of the United States and Canada. Warren was a member of Burlington United Methodist Church and served on the Burlington Water Commission. He grew up on a farm and like his father loved gardening. He loved fishing and ice fishing and had been an avid deer hunter. In high school Warren played basketball and was given the name "Honker" which many still called him today. Warren enjoyed driving the kids around on his red scooter. Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Ethel Ranker, their children; Lynn Deabler, Jeffrey (Vicki) Ranker and Michael (Rosemary) Ranker and by grandchildren; Madeline Deabler, Christopher, Noah, Alexander and Matthew Ranker. Warren is further survived by siblings; Kenneth (Viola) Ranker, Frederick Ranker and Alice (Gary) Keyes, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marjorie Ranker, Alice Anderson, Duane Licht, Russell Licht, Esther Lois and Millie Umnus. He was preceded in death by his parents and by brothers; Elliot who died shortly after birth and Glenn and Edward Ranker. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 7:00 PM at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home with Chaplain Lawrence Williams Officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 4:00 PM until 6:30 PM. Burial will take place on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Burlington Cemetery.
