Obituary for Syed Waqar Akbar Rizvi

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Syed Waqar Akbar Rizvi, a celebrated architect, poet, and beloved member of his community. Born in pre-partition India, he migrated with his family to Karachi, Pakistan, during his early childhood. The only son in a family of seven sisters, Waqar Akbar Rizvi built a life that was rich in creativity, accomplishment, and love.

A renowned architect, Waqar Akbar Rizvi was instrumental in designing significant projects, including the updated design of the Bhutto Family Mausoleum in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, Sindh. His work on the mausoleum, completed in 2003, incorporated Islamic architectural principles, featuring five domes and exquisite marblework that pays homage to Pakistan's cultural heritage

Beyond architecture, he was a passionate poet who devoted much of his art to the veneration of Ahle Bait (a.s.), as well as composing touching ghazals and nazms that captured the essence of the human experience. He was the founder of the poetic society of Bazm-e-Arzo Karachi Pakistan.  His words remain a testament to his depth, sensitivity, and love for literature.

Waqar Akbar Rizvi was a man of honor, humor, and compassion. He was deeply committed to his family, leaving behind two sons, two daughters, two daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law, six grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, but his legacy lives on through his family and the countless lives he touched.

May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory inspire us to create, care, and love as he did.

You can to the family or in memory of Waqar Rizvi.
