Early in the morning on June 20, 2013, Wanda departed her earthly home and entered the gates of her heavenly home for eternity. Wanda Lee Banister was born on August 11, 1922 to Samuel Marshall and Alice Jane Banister in Bell, AR. She was raised in Arkansas and Oklahoma. In her teens, her parents moved to California and a young man named Clarence Jay Langley quickly followed them. Wanda and Clarence were married on September 16, 1939 in Clinton, OK. They were married for 49 years and on January 3, 1989 Clarence went to his Heavenly home. They had two beautiful daughters, Beverly Ann and Brenda Joy. Wanda was a bookkeeper for Yuma County Water Users Association and retired from Yuma Mesa Irrigation District. She was a charter member of Morningside Baptist Church. Our mother and Mamaw was by far the best biscuit and pie maker in Yuma County. She loved cooking pies for everyone and continued making pies up until a few months ago. She gave her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren many memories by letting us all help when she cooked and even taught us how to play cards, quilt and crochet. Mamaw will be missed greatly by all.Survivors include her daughters, Beverly A. Elliott and husband Phil of Odessa, TX. and Brenda J. Poels and husband John of Yuma, AZ, sister Hilda Banister of Midland, TX, five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.Services will be held at Johnson Mortuary Chapel at 10:00am on Monday, June 24, 2013.
