Walter SieckPerryWalter Sieck, age 98 of Perry, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at his home in Perry, IA. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Perry. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 5, 2017 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. with a Masonic Lodge service held at 5:00 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery at Perry, IA. Memorials will be given to Iowa Wesleyan University Scholarship Fund and the First United Methodist Church in Perry and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home. www.carrisfuneralhome.com.Walter Louis Sieck was born on April 23, 1918 in Pottawattamie County, IA to Theodore and Freda Pein Sieck. He attended Hase Dell #8 school and graduated from Underwood High School in 1936. He attended Simpson College and graduated from IA Wesleyan College in the century class of 1940. He graduated from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in 1947. Walter was an ordained United Methodist minister. He began his ministry in IA in 1946 serving numerous United Methodist churches throughout Iowa. Serving from 1946 to 1983 when he retired and moved to Perry.Walter and Ila Fay Stille were married August 21, 1941 in Silver City, IA. Six children blessed this union: Dean (Judy) Sieck, Cleveland Heights, OH, Allan (Carol) Sieck, Rippey, IA, Gloria (Kip) Lepke, Perry, IA, Joseph (Suzie) Wintersieck, Walsenburg, CO, Angela (John) Strutz, Cedar Rapids, IA and Rosemary (Charles) Stetzel, Algona, IA.Walter and Elsina Faber were married August 24, 1996, two step children, Pamela Vandever, Perry, IA and Jean Kistler, Perry, IA.16 Grandchildren: Jennifer Sieck, Columbus, OH, Timothy Sieck, Cleveland Heights, OH. Jon Sieck, Van Meter, IA, Joshua Sieck, Las Vegas, NV, Juliana Cullen, Adel, IA, Derek Lepke, Claude, TX, Emily York, Perry, IA, Aza Wintersieck, Chattanooga, TN, Alan Wintersieck, Denver, CO, Michael Strutz, Kansas City, MO, Tiffany Pitra, Yakama, WA, Britany Strutz, Kuwait City, Kuwait, Jeremy Strutz, Cedar Rapids, IA, Jessica Stetzel, Des Moines, IA, John Stetzel, San Diego, CA, Corrine Stetzel, Sacramento, CA, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Fay, 3 brothers and 1 sister.In retirement Walter spent many happy hours around the pool table with family and friends.He continued in a ministry of visitation in his retirement years.
