Waki Knight, 41, of Manhattan, New York, passed on August 30, 2023. Waki was born on June 23, 1982 to James “Omar” Knight and Gladys Scott-Knight at Queens General Hospital located in Jamaica Queens NY. Around the age of 4 the family relocated to the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Waki attended PS 142 elementary, JHS 56 and Norman Thomas HS. Waki was an entrepreneur, he went to culinary school and practiced to be a chef, he even recently started his journey towards eating healthier and becoming a pescatarian. He ran his own sneaker business and even bounced at clubs. He spent some time as a painter at Disney land in Florida but was such a New Yorker at heart that he found his way back to living in NY. Waki was a musician and 50 cent was his favorite rapper, he even made a rap song dedicated to his late mother Gladys. He loved his neighborhood since a child, his friends and the people in it. He attended the boys club and Hamilton fish park all the time. He was a mentor to many young men in the neighborhood who was always there to help anyone he could. Waki always came with great energy and was the life of the party. A place in heaven was prepared as it should be for Waki for he was Proceeded in death by his father James “Omar” Knight and mother Gladys Scott Knight. Waki leaves behind his Daughter Meloni Knight /son Loyal Justice Knight /sister Khadijah Knight /brother Omar Aswan Knight- sister in law Eleanor Knight / brother Omari Akeel Knight - sister in law Tiffany Knight / A host of nieces, nephews, aunt’s, uncles cousins and friends.
