Virginia W. NelsonJuly 7, 1927 - October 20, 2013Virginia W. Nelson, 86, of Pocatello, Idaho, passed away peacefully at her home following an illness on Sunday, October 20, 2013. She was born on July 7, 1927 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts to Ray and Laura (Gauthier) Wood. She was raised in North Adams, Massachusetts. In 1953, Virginia married William "Bill" F. Nelson in North Adams. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and also during the Korean Conflict. Virginia and Bill moved to San Diego, California. Their son, James, was born January 11, 1958 in San Diego. Virginia was a member of the Catholic Church. She loved to garden, crochet, and was a great bowler and cook.Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Bill. She is survived by her son, Jim; grandchildren, Daniel Nelson and Sarah Beery; her siblings, Warren Wood, Don Wood, and Claire Duxbury. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.As per Virginia's wishes, she was cremated under the care and direction of Downard Funeral Home, 241 North Garfield Ave., Pocatello, Idaho. No public services are being planned.
