Virginia "Ginny" Wheeler Sumner, 57, of Huntersville died December 8, 2016 at her home. She was born on June 11, 1959 in Escambia County, FL to Mary Lee Powers Wheeler and the late William James Wheeler. "Miss Ginny" worked as the preschool director at Ramah Presbyterian Church for almost two decades. She lived life with an abundant supply of compassion and empathy for others, especially stray animals, children with disabilities, and those most vulnerable in society. She taught her children what it felt like to be loved fully and without condition.She is survived by her husband Jay; son, Michael of Springfield, VA; daughter, Kate of Northampton, MA; and brothers, Jim, Robert and Michael, as well as her mother Mary Lee Wheeler.Memorials may be made to the Ramah Presbyterian Church Preschool for a scholarship fund that will be established in her name, 14401 Ramah Church Rd. Huntersville, NC 28078.The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday, December 13 at James Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday at Ramah Presbyterian Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
