Virginia T. ReevesNovember 5, 2016Virginia Theresa Reeves, 99, of Ft Myers Fl, formerly of Sanibel Island and Hinsdale Il, passed away at Shellpoint Village on November 5, 2016. She was born on March 15, 1917 in Chicago, Il. She was preceded in death by her husband Colin J. Reeves and daughter Marilyn G. Reeves.Left to cherish her memory are her children Rodney F (Sandra) Reeves, Pamela A (Jeff) Huffer and Thomas J (Kay) Reeves, 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was a graduate of Beloit College and made her life's work organizing her household and nurturing her family. She was renowned for hosting parties with delicious meals for friends and family gatherings. A talented athlete, she played golf into her late 80's. She also excelled at duplicate bridge and shared her passion and knowledge of nature as a docent for the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation. Virginia showed those around her how to live with wisdom, grace and good humor. She encouraged her children to explore (sometimes turning a blind eye to exploits) and shared their interests and achievements. Her legacy was in teaching how to live fully, no matter what life brings.A celebration of her life is planned for a later date.
