PRESTON – Virginia Mary Wheeler Mortenson Harris, 90, passed away from natural causes on March 31, 2008, in the Heritage Home in Preston, Idaho. She was born on Sept. 23, 1917, in Glendale, Idaho, to Ray and Benta Hansen Wheeler. She lived in Glendale all through her youth and throughout her schooling. After high school, her family moved to Logan, Utah, where her father became a baker. Later she met and married Jim Murry Mortenson. He passed away in 1955 from cancer. Virginia later married William (Bill) McGee Harris from Preston, and they joined their two families. With this large family there was always lots of fun. She loved hunting, fishing and camping with all of them. She also spent 30 years as a mail carrier between Preston to Thatcher. Being the only woman in the family, she also loved her flower gardens. She is survived by her three sons, Jerry M. (Cona) Mortenson, Pocatello, Idaho, Jim D. (DeeAnn) Mortenson, Glenrock, Wyo., and Terry R. (Janna) Mortenson, Soda Springs, Idaho; step-children, Glen (Joyce) Harris, Bancroft, Idaho, Evan (Radene) Harris, Preston, Idaho, Van (Gala) Harris, Casper, Wyo.; two brothers, Don (Carol) Wheeler, Fruitland, Idaho, and Van (Marie) Wheeler, Logan, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Jim Mortenson and Bill Harris; two brothers, Lonnie and Raymond Wheeler, and one sister Zela Wheeler Dawson; and a step-son Neal Harris. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2008, in the Preston 7th Ward Chapel, 155 N. 200 West in Preston. Friends may call from 12 to 12:45 at the church.
