Viona Lorraine Olson Valentine peacefully passed away from this earthly existence on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, to be reunited with her husband, son, parents and siblings. She was born on May 7, 1917, in Millville, Utah, to Olof & Hulda Olson. She married Charles Elmer Valentine on July 3, 1944 in Salt Lake City. They lived in Florida most of their married life. Viona moved back to Utah after her husband passed away. They were blessed with one child, Richard Lee Valentine . At 2 1/2 years old, she contracted polio, but with therapy and much determination, she was able walk, ride a bike and dance. This determination was evident throughout her life. Viona developed a great love for music and enjoyed playing the organ and keyboard. She played in several bands over the years. She faithfully took care of her son, Richard, who was exposed to Agent Orange in the Viet Nam War. She was a great support to him and his cause. She was preceded in death by her husband, son and parents. She was the last surviving child of Olof and Hulda, after her brother, Merlin Nielsen passed away last January. Other siblings who preceded her in death are: Vanetta May Dutson; Malinda Junith Anderson; Elnora Dutson; a stillborn; Arvilla LaVern (Daines) Hopkins; Rolan Olof; Fern Lucile Hoth; Arvid Leon; and Victor Leo. Funeral arrangements are by Allen-Hall Mortuary, 23 E. Center, Logan. A family and close friends gathering will be held Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Mortuary, with burial at the Millville Cemetery at noon.
