We are saddened to announce the passing of Vernita Aikens-Driver, who was born on August 2, 1951 in Gary, Indiana, United States. She peacefully departed this world on December 30, 2024.

Vernita was the beloved daughter of Leotis Aikens Sr and Mary Aikens. She was the devoted partner of Charles Carter Sr and the loving mother of Charles Carter Jr. (Chan). She also leaves behind one cherished grandchild.

Vernita attended Emerson High School and proudly graduated in 1969. She worked as a homemaker, dedicating her life to caring for her family.

In her spare time, Vernita enjoyed listening to music, playing board games, reading her Bible, and serving the Lord. She was known for her kind heart and generous spirit, always putting the needs of others before her own.

Vernita passed away from natural causes, leaving behind a legacy of love and faith. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
