Colgate, Vera age 88 of Mesa, Arizona passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at the Red Mountain Senior Home. Vera was a long-time resident of Miami, Arizona where she lived from 1955 until she moved to Mesa, Arizona in 2001. She passed peacefully in her sleep. Vera was born on January 15, 1928 in Denver, Colorado to Glen & Pearl Boulton. She also has a younger sister, Lorie Davis. Vera married George Colgate on August 8, 1947. Vera & George had three children - two sons and one daughter. They are Jim Colgate of California, Ken Colgate of Nevada, and Sandy Miller of Arizona. She has seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, twenty-four nieces & nephews, and scores of other friends and relatives. Vera's favorite color was purple. And we all know purple is for royalty. Vera loved to cook. She always looked forward to making and especially eating homemade cookies. She also enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. She was a substitute teacher in the high schools. She also worked as a county tax assessor in the Gila County Court House in Globe. At home Vera took special care of a "rescue cat". She rescued "Kitty" when one of her friends passed away and nobody else would take the cat. Vera loved to sit with Kitty on her lap and brush her fur. The memorial service will be October 29, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Fountain of the Sun, 540 S. 80th Street, Mesa, AZ 85208. She will be laid to rest, in Colorado, when the entire family can gather.
