Overson, Velda Dean 85 of Suprise, Arizona, passed away on September 13, 2017. Velda Dean Overson was born on Aug. 22, 1932 in Safford Ariz. to Andrew Peterson and Mary Matilda Allen. She graduated from Thatcher High School in 1950. She married her high school sweetheart Calvert Overson on June 30, 1951. They raised their family in Lakeside Calif. She became a teacher in the Adult Education system teaching computers at El Cajon Valley High School and Grossmont Jr. College for 20 yrs. She was an avid tennis player and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. After retirement she moved with her husband to Surprise Ariz. She passed away peacefully at home and was laid to rest in the Central Ariz. Cemetery on September 23, 2017. She was proceeded in death by her parents and sisters Mary Drusilla Bratcher, Iva Mae McFarland and Marva Rosetta Larson. Velda will be greatly missed by her family. Her loving husband Calvert Overson, daughter Denise (Bill) Rand, sons Scott (Denise) Overson, Marc Overson, Michael Overson, 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, and a sister Cleora Walls.
