Tommy Grimes

Tommy Ray Grimes, a cherished father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his residence in Odessa, Texas, on February 19, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on March 26, 1948, in Clovis, New Mexico, Tommy's life was marked by his loving nature, selflessness, and generosity that touched the hearts of all who knew him.

Tommy was a man of many passions, with a zest for life that was evident in his love for riding motorcycles and his exceptional talent in the kitchen. Known for his culinary skills, he brought joy to family gatherings with his amazing cooking, creating memories that his loved ones will treasure forever. His adoration for his children and grandchildren was unparalleled, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments and milestones.

A proud veteran, Tommy served his country with honor during the Vietnam War. His experiences shaped him into a man of resilience and courage, values he carried throughout his life. In his leisure time, Tommy could often be found engrossed in history documentaries, indulging in his love for learning and his fascination with the past. He also had a special place in his heart for his beloved shows, which provided him with countless hours of entertainment and comfort.

Tommy's kindness extended beyond his family to the animal kingdom. He was known in his community for his compassion toward stray cats, ensuring that no creature in need was ever turned away from his doorstep without a meal. This simple act of kindness was a testament to Tommy's caring and empathetic spirit.

He is survived by his sons, Robert Grimes and Jordan Grimes; his daughter, Kristi Grimes; his brother, Lou Mealer; his sister, Wendy Mitchell; and his adoring grandchildren, Heather Hilliard, Jordan, William, David, Ashley, Brandon, Matthew, Rebecca, Brenda, and Lynden Grimes. The legacy of Tommy's love and warmth is also carried on by numerous other grandchildren, family members, and a host of friends who were all blessed to know him.

Tommy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Francis Christine Horton, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and companionship. Their reunion is a comforting thought for those who mourn Tommy's passing, knowing that they are together once more.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Tommy Ray Grimes will be deeply missed, but the impact he made on this world will never be forgotten. As we honor his memory, let us find solace in the joy he brought to our lives and the lessons of love and selflessness he imparted. Rest in peace, dear Tommy, until we meet again.

Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel, and condolences may be sent online.
