Tom Schemanske, age 67, of Oscoda passed away on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 after a short battle with lung and brain cancer. Tom was born on Jan. 14, 1946 to the late Jean and Steve Schemanske. Tom was very active in the community. He was involved with the JCs in the 1970s and in 1984 he married the love of his life, Jody Nelson. In 1987 Tom started AdCom Productions which he ran until his retirement last year. In 1996 he was named Oscoda Citizen of the Year. He was also the president of the Oscoda Chamber of Commerce for several years during the mid 1990s. Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Jody, who passed in April of 2011. He is survived his sister, Margaret McCarthy; his son, Drew (Sarah) Nelson of Grand Rapids; and granddaughters, Maya, Abby and Madden. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 18 at 1 p.m. at Buresh Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Iosco County Humane Society.
