Todd Devall Obituary
Sep 02, 1985 - Jun 08, 2023
Kind of a big deal
On June 8th, 2023 the world became a little darker as Allen “Todd” Devall lost his battle to leukemia.
Born September 2, 1985, Todd was full of life, laughs, and personality. He never met a stranger. He had the ability to make anyone feel special. He knew how to get along with anyone and find the best in everyone. His infectious smile would light up even the dimmest rooms. He was a son, a father, a friend and a lover and will be missed greatly by anyone who has ever had the privilege to know him.
Todd’s life was anything but easy. He endured life’s greatest challenges even early in his childhood. Things were thrown at Todd that were so bad it would make most people crumble to the ground. However, Todd was built to withstand the worst. Every single battle only made him stronger. He was a true inspiration to many and his story will continue to inspire others for many years to come.
Todd lived a life that most people dream of. He was free spirited and had a great time no matter what he was doing. From attending concert festivals, football games, and traveling to different brewery’s around the state, living life to the fullest was always a priority. Every adventure led to a story worth telling. And to hear Todd tell his life stories was something truly special.
Todd had a love for sports, especially college football. His favorite team? A choice as unique as he is, the Oregon Ducks. He looked forward to football season all year. Let’s all hope the Ducks have a helluva season this year, just for Todd.
He enjoyed all kinds of music from rock, rap, to 90s country. His favorite band was Nirvana. Todd liked to take his daughter on hikes and liked playing disc golf. He enjoyed cooking and was a genius behind a grill. He loved hot sauce and would grow his own peppers to cross-pollinate creating some of the hottest sauces known to man. His favorite food, however, was tacos. But hold the lettuce. You would never catch him eating anything salad or salad-like. Never.
In 2019, Todd had an accident that would change his life completely. He became paralyzed from the neck down. This type of accident would have been the nail in the coffin for most people, but somehow Todd still prevailed. His acceptance of things that can’t be changed inspired and motivated others in countless ways. The time after his accident wasn’t easy, but even through dark times he found light and a will to keep going while still making new friends, new memories, and new love. He was still every bit of the man he always was and a total badass that we were all so lucky to have known.
After all of the hardships he had already faced, the one that would eventually take him out was leukemia. After being diagnosed in 2022, he went through a period of remission but eventually relapsed. He fought hard and held on as long as he could. Todd left this earth with a heart that was full of true happiness with loved ones by his side.
Todd was predeceased by his father, Allen Devall. He is survived by his mother, Beth, that gave him his fighting spirit, care free attitude, and his love for concerts. His brother Chris, that he shared an unbreakable brotherly bond with. A true partner in crime and someone he could reach out to openly and honestly and knew that no matter what, he’d always have his back. His beautiful daughter Caroline who he shared a very special relationship with will carry on Todd’s love for good music, his artistic abilities, and those lips that couldn’t be missed. His adventurous daughter Ava that has Todd written all over her with her spunky personality, strong will, and love for goofy faces and eyebrow raises. And his Angel without wings, Alison, who brought him out of his darkest, gave him his shining smile back, and showed him what true love was all about.
Todd is also survived by many special cousins and other friends and family members, including his Nany, who he loved dearly.
A celebration of life will be held on July 9th at one of Todd’s favorite bars, Tribbles, which is owned by one of his best friends. Please join us in celebrating Todd and the privilege that was to know him. He truly was so damn special.
