Thomas Lujan AKA "Santa Claus," 68, lifetime resident of Las Vegas, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014 at his residence. He was born on May 15, 1946 in Las Vegas to the late José Maria Lujan and Maria Mercedes Lucero. A Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Thomas worked as a meat cutter at Columbia Supermarket, also for Highlands Wrecker, Luna Community College, Leger's Package Liquors, and Rogers Mortuary. He loved his cars, showing them in many car shows. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. He enjoyed making models and assembling them in bottles. He was known for his joking manners. During the holidays, Thomas would play Santa Claus for Knights of Columbus, public schools, banks and anyone who would request. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Deacon Vincent Armijo and Joe O. Armijo; and sister, Flora Trujillo. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Dolores M. Lujan of the family home; daughter, Thomasina Marquez; grandsons, Esteban and Christian Marquez; granddaughter, Amber Marquez, all of Las Vegas; brothers, Ricardo Lucero of Albuquerque, and James Lujan (Frances) of Las Vegas; sisters, Olivia Roybal of Albuquerque, Josephine Sanchez (Tony) of San Bernardino, Calif., Linda Mares (Eddie), and Theresa Romero (Alex), all of Las Vegas; father and mother–in-law, Alfonso and Rita Montaño; brothers-in-law, Richard and Lawrence Montaño, all of Anton Chico; sisters-in-law, Elaine "Toots" Montaño of Anton Chico, Susie Maestas (Ernest Gutierrez), Patsy Moncayo (José) of Santa Fe, and Mary Montaño of Long Beach, Calif.; brother-in-law, Robert Lee Trujillo of Rio Rancho; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas. Funeral service will be conducted at 9 a.m. Friday with Father Douglas Mitchell as celebrant. Interment of cremains will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Las Vegas.
