LAGRANGE — Thomas E. Kennedy, 70, of LaGrange, Indiana, died Sunday, August 30, 2015, at Parkview LaGrange Hospital. Mr. Kennedy was born on June 6, 1945, in Sturgis, Michigan, to John E. and Dorris M. (Ford) Kennedy. They preceded him in death. Living most of his life in LaGrange County, he owned and operated the Kennedy Oil Company (Union 76) with his parents for many years. Tom graduated from LaGrange High School in 1963 and continued his education at Ellsworth Junior College in Iowa Falls, Iowa. In 1966, he joined the
U.S. Navy and served on the hospital ship USS Repose off the coast of Vietnam. While on the ship, from 1967-68, he served as a radioman. He was then stationed in Little Creek and Norfolk, Virgina, until his discharge in 1970. He served for many years with the LaGrange Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed golfing, boating, racing, cars, riding his motorcycle, fishing, snowmobiling, and wintering in Florida. In September of 1996 in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, he married Lore (Sheehan) Kennedy. She survives in LaGrange. Also surviving are a daughter, Amy Archbold of Fort Wayne, Indiana; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Jennifer Kennedy of Fort Wayne, Indiana; a stepdaughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Shannon Hippenhammer of LaGrange, Indiana; a stepson, Jayson Gerrald of LeClaire, Iowa; and 11 grandchildren, Jake, Paige, and Taylor Archbold, Brayden and Emilia Kennedy, Cain Shepherd, Jazmyn Forbes, Nathan and Emily Hippenhammer, and Jeremy and Jake Gerrald. A memorial visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, from 5-8 p.m. at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange, Indiana.
