Thomas Edwin Green, 83, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Providence Hospital in Everett with his family and friends by his side. He was born on May 9, 1930 in Darrington, WA to Mollie and Tom Green. Ed grew up in Darrington. He went to work for Three River's Shingle Mill as a teenager where he sawed shingles. After years at the mill, he took up a job with Reece Brother's Logging setting chokers and eventually operating the yarder. He retired after 36 years of working in the woods. Ed married Lauree in 1949 in Arlington, WA. They were happily married for 64 years. Ed had a deep appreciation for the outdoors including high-mountain hiking, fishing lakes and hunting. He enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada with good friends and family. Gardening and cutting firewood were other outdoor passions he enjoyed with the company of his dog, Jennie. His many outdoor experiences led to good stories told to and enjoyed by his many friends, family members, and acquaintances. After a visit with Ed a person always left with a good feeling. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Mollie and Tom Green; his brother, Denver Green; and his sons Rick and Nicholas Green. Edwin is survived by his spouse, Ree Green; his brother, Leslie Green of Darrington; his sisters, Linda Parker of Silver Lake, WA and AltaMae Andrews of Darrington; his, grandchildren, Randi, Cami, Kristi, Tony and Sabrina; his 10 great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and close family friends. A memorial dinner will be held at the Darrington Community Center, December 21, at 1:00 p.m.
