Schmit, Theodore "Ted"Theodore Schmit Jr, age 91, of Tomahawk, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Merrill. Ted was born on October 17, 1925 in Tomahawk to Theodore Schmit, Sr & Catherine Wagner. He married Dorothy Ruplinger on June 20, 1953 in Tomahawk. Ted loved the outdoors, especially trout fishing, deer hunting, making deer drives, pheasant hunting in Nebraska & South Dakota with his hunting dogs and riding his Farmall Tractor making hay. Ted liked to play sheepshead and was always good for a joke or a story. He also enjoyed watching the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers. He played the accordion and the harmonica and enjoyed polka music and dancing. He was always the life of the party. Ted hauled wood under Ted Schmit Trucking for 63 years, until he was 83 years old. He had a load of logs in the Tomahawk 4th of July parade for 38 years. In addition to logging and farming, Ted also helped his son, Bob, on the Christmas Tree Farm. Ted's most cherished memories were time spent with his family and 3 grandchildren.Ted is survived by his 2 daughters, Cynthia (Joseph) Boehm, Wausau, & Mary (Ernest) Springer, Marathon City; and 2 sons, Robert Schmit, Shawano, & James Schmit, Tomahawk. He is further survived by 3 grandchildren, Andrew (Cortni Stuttgen) Springer, Marathon, Heather (Matthew Wadzinski) Springer, Mosinee, and Nicole Springer, Marathon; and his faithful companion, Nix, the family dog. Ted is preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister - Mary, brothers - Frank & JP, and grandson - Patrick Springer. The Mass of Christian Burial for Ted Schmit will take place at 1:00PM on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tomahawk. Fr. Louis Maram Reddy will officiate. Visitation will take place on Saturday from 11:00AM until the time of Mass at 1:00PM. Burial in Calvary Cemetery will immediately follow the conclusion of Mass.
