Tanya Taylor Goff Tanya Taylor Goff, wife of John M. Goffof Hilton Head Island, S.C. passed away on September 18, 2016 at her home in Hilton Head. Tanya was born on October 31, 1942 to Mildred and C. O. Taylor of Cayce, South Carolina, and was the fourth of eight children in the Taylor family. She graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School in suburban Columbia, S.C. and started her higher education years at the University of South Carolina. After her sophomore year she married John M. Goff who was teaching and coaching in Laurens, South Carolina. She transferred to Presbyterian College and finished her college degree with a major in Education with an emphasis in French. Tanya taught French in Camden, South Carolina schools before she and her family moved to Vandalia, Ohio after husband John finished his doctoratein Educational Leadership at Auburn University. She taught French in the West Carrolton schools in suburban Dayton and delighted in taking her students on trips to Montreal and Quebec where they experienced French first hand. She also had the opportunity to embrace her passion for French by studying abroad in Paris for several months. John and Tanya moved to Kettering, Ohio and she continued her teaching in the West Carrolton School District. After 8 years in Kettering they moved to Columbus, Ohio where she went to work as an assistant in a business firm. When John retired at the end of 1998 they moved to Hilton Head Island and to Hilton Head Plantation. Tanya loved bridge, tennis and golf and spent much time at the Hilton Head Bridge center and on the tennis courts in Hilton Head Plantation. She became a Life Master in bridge and in 2003 her tennis team at Spring Lake in HH Plantation won the Super Senior Turkey Trot National Tennis Championship. She was a vital part of the team. Tanya and John were members of The Chapel Without Walls of Hilton Head Island, S.C. Tanya is survived by brothers Carl Taylor (Ellen) of Edisto Beach, S.C. and Otis Taylor (Ann) of Newberry, S. C. and sisters Myrna Stokes (Troy) ofMoore, S.C. and Amelia Schafer of Gaston, S. C. Brothers Larry (Marie), Mark, and Keith (Joanne) preceded her in death. Tanya is survived by her devoted husband John of 54 years and have two children. Son John and his wife Jolynn live in Burlington, Vermont with sons Evan (15) and Cole (12). Daughter Claire and her husband Kevin Bain live in Evanston, Illinois with son Kai (4) and twins Solenne and Theodore (2). Tanya truly loved her children and was a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren.
