Devoted mother of Tiffany Gaul (Nathan) of Chantilly, VA and MariBeth Rawson of Hamilton, NJ. Loving grandmother of Olivia of Chantilly, VA. Dear sister of Rebecca Arndt of Frederick, MD. Cherished aunt of Gus Arndt (Stacy) and Gustave and Hunter of Urbana, MD. Former wife of George Rawson. Sylvia graduated from Penn State in 1964 where she earned a Bachelor's in Liberal Arts then moved to Annapolis, MD before settling in Blackwood, NJ in 1966. She taught French in Cherry Hill, NJ before starting her career as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor with the State of NJ where she retired in 2000 after 28 years of service. Sylvia enjoyed traveling the world and all of God's creatures. In her younger years she enjoyed ice skating at the Cherry Hill Ice Rink and summers in Margate. Sylvia also enjoyed cooking and baking Christmas cookies and many looked forward to receiving them. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society and Altar & Rosary Society at Holy Child Parish, Runnemede, NJ. There will be a viewing from 8:15 to 10:15am Monday morning at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE. Funeral Mass 11am at Holy Child Parish, St. Maria Goretti RC Church, Runnemede. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery, Chews Landing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sylvia's name to Colon Cancer Alliance, 1025 Vermont Ave., NW, Suite 1066, Washington, DC 20005.
