Sylvia Ellen Trott (nee Straiton), of Brentwood, passed away on September 15, 2014, surrounded by family, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born on August 12, 1940 in Dallas, Texas to Elizabeth and John Straiton. She graduated from Hillcrest High School and attended Pomona College, where she met her husband Thomas F. Trott. She completed her Bachelors in English Literature from
U.C.L.A. before earning her Master's Degree in Social Work from U.S.C. A world traveler, Anglophile, and humanitarian, Sylvia is survived by her husband of 52 years, son John Matthew, daughter Laura, granddaughter Elise Robinson, and sister Joy Atkins. A memorial service celebrating her life will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 1st at Brentwood Presbyterian Church (12000 San Vicente Blvd., Los Angeles, 90049). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels of West Los Angeles (900 Hilgard Ave., Los Angeles, 90024) where Sylvia was a devoted volunteer for 23 years.
