STEPHEN J. VIRTUE, 59 FREEPORT - Stephen J. Virtue, 59, of Freeport, died Saturday May 30, 2015 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Stephen was born on December 30, 1955 in Freeport, the son of James and Marilyn (Zimmerman) Virtue. He was a 1974 graduate of Freeport High School. Stephen owned and operated Virtue Electric. On November 10, 2001 Stephen married Christine Janicki in Freeport. He enjoyed going snowmobiling and cooking. Surviving are his wife, Christine Virtue of Freeport, parents James and Marilyn Virtue of Crown Pointe, IN; two sons, Adam (Andrea) Virtue and Brad Virtue both of Longmont, CO; stepson, Eric (Emily) Otte of Pearl City, IL.; stepdaughter, Angela (Shane) Edler of Lena, IL.; sister, Laura (Randy) Lutz of St. Joseph, IL.; three grandchildren, Austin, Blain and Layla; and five step-grandchildren, Emma, Ethan, Alexondria, Simon, and Avrielle. Preceded in death by both his maternal and paternal grandparents. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service at Burke Tubbs. Burial will be in Dakota Cemetery. Memorial has been established for Stephen in his memory.
