Stephen "Mike" Michael Farr, age 65, of Roswell, Ga., formerly of Erie, died on Friday October 7, 2016 at Northside Hospital. He was born on November 22, 1950 the son of the late John Harley Sr. and Mary (Grant) Farr. Mike co-owned and operated Genesis Shocks located in Roswell, Ga. for over 10 years. Mike was a former dirt track racer who spent numerous years working in the automotive field. He then transitioned into spending over 30 years in the racing shock business including stints with Carrera Shocks, Pro Shocks, and fuel business with VP fuel. Additionally, Mike has worked extensively in short track marketing, sponsor activation, public relations, and promotions. Mike's professional career has been featured in national publications Dick Berggren's Speedway Illustrated, Stock Car Racing, Trackside, Area Auto Racing News and others. He was also a nominee for consideration in the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame. He served as a suspension consultant and crewed on Bobby Allison's Daytona 500 and Goody's 300 winning Winston Cup Team in 1988. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Roberta "Bobbie" Dunn Farr whom he married January 20, 1972; brother, John Harley Farr Jr. (Renee) of Bowie, Md.; sister, Patricia Stiles (William) of North East; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Tuesday 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. and are invited to attend a funeral service on Wednesday at 11:00 am.
