BURGER Stanley Matthew, Versailles, 73, died on November 28, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospital, after a brief illness. Stanley was born on November 26, 1943, in Gulf Port, MS, to Stanley M. Burger, Jr. and Martha Louise (Jones) Burger. He was raised in Lexington, KY and was a 1962 graduate of Bryan Station High School. Stan was a member of the 1st Battalion, 46th Infantry, 198th Light Infantry Brigade, Americal Division (1967-1968), was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in a bombing during the Vietnam conflict, and was named a Kentucky Colonel. He was co-founder of Harp Enterprises and worked in the printing industry for most of his life. Stan was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 46 years, Leslie Noel (Thorp) Burger, is survived by two daughters, Lori (Charles) Jeffries of Frankfort, KY, Erin (Chad) Robinson of Lexington, KY, and three grandchildren Kaetlyn, James, and Bailey. He was the "Master of His Own Destiny" and "Captain of His Ship" - a consummate storyteller who will be missed by all who knew him.
