Stanley A. Barchik peacfully passed away at home after losing his battle to cancer.
Born and raised in the small town of Benton, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Frank Barchik, Sr. and Mary (Falkowski) Barchik. He and his wife, Lois (Miller) Barchik, would have celebrated their wedding anniversary on April 11th.
Mr. Barchik was a graduate of Huntington Mills High School and then worked in the mines for a brief time. After that he hauled cars for L. E. Spaide and then farmed with his father. Stanly had also attended Barber School in Wilkes-Barre and opened his own barber shop in Cambra. He also was a school bus contractor for the Northwest Area School.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Lois, are their five children: Norma Mazaika and her husband, Joe, of Stillwater; Edward Barchik and his wife, Diana, of Cambra; Janice Hildebrand and her husband, Harold, of Hunlock Creek; Irene Schindler and her husband, Steve, of Windermere, Florida; William Frank Barchik, of Cambra. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren; a sister and two brothers: Joan Zumpano and her husband, Vincent; Robert Barchik and his wife, Martha; Raymond Barchik and his wife, Corrine as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Elizabeth Hildebrand in 2008 and by three siblings: Edward E. Barchik, Franl C. Barchik and Bernadine Pierontoni.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Sep0tember 19, 2019 at 2 PM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (S.R. 487). Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery, Hunlock Creek. Viewing Friday, from 1 PM until the time of the service at 2:00 at McMichael's. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the charity of the donor's choice.
