AXELSEN, Soren Soren Axelsen, a Danish American, passed away peacefully on December 6th, 2016, in Napa after 84 prosperous years. He was born on March 12, 1932 in Copenhagen, Denmark, and first traveled to the United States (New York) in 1952 on a Marshall Aid Plan scholarship. In 1956, he wed Ingrid Andersen, the former Miss Denmark (1953), and shortly thereafter immigrated to the United States. He was a successful wine entrepreneur involved in all facets of the wine industry, from grape growing through sales, on three continents (North America, South America and Europe), founding Cab.Corp. in 1980 which his two sons now manage. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who kept his Danish heritage alive (longtime member of Danish Club of San Francisco). His loves were family, friends, business and sailing (longtime member of both the Corinthian and Napa Yacht Clubs in Northern California). He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched. Soren Axelsen is survived by his wife, Ingrid, two sons, Peter (wife Judith) and Eric (wife Sjoukje), and three grandchildren, Lilli, Niklas and Isabella.
