Obituary

Smith Hamilton beloved husband to Beatrice Hamilton passed away on January 24,2025 in Lafayette, Louisiana at the age of 86. Smith known as ":Smitty" to some was born in Lafayette, Louisiana on August 25, 1939, to Adia Dixon and John Hamilton. Smith had 1 sister Dinell, and 2 brothers Roland and Bobby.

Smith attended school for a while but decided he didn't like school and wanted to quit. His dad told him if he quit he would have to get a job. From that time on util he retired Smith was a dedicated employee. Smith 1st job was at Keller's Bakery here in Lafayette. Once Smith met Beatrice whom he loved dearly, they decided to move to Port Arthur, Texas. While in Texas together Smith and Beatrice who he called "B" had 3 children Charlie, Vicky and Toni all of Texas. Smith worked at a mechanic shop, bakery and the City of Houston which he retired from before moving back to Lafayette to be near his sister. Once Smith moved back to Lafayette he went to work for the City of Lafayette and went back to work at his 1st job Keller's Bakery where he would get up at 3 am in the morning to ride his decked-out bike with lights and all on it. Smith nearly gave our mom a heartache riding that bike so early in the morning.

Outside of work, Smith enjoyed riding his bike, building things and listening to music. Smith was good with his hands he once built a fancy little bird house which he painted red. If you happen to pass by his sisters' house, you will see the little bird's mansion.

Smith leaves behind his wife Beatrice, his daughter Toni, his sister Dinell, his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of additional family and friends. Smith is preceded in death by both his parents, his 2 brothers and 2 of his children Charlie and Vicky and 1 nephew Grant.

Smith Hamilton will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy of love, hard work, and dedication will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace.
