June 7, 1937 - November 10, 2016 Beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Nana, and dear friend to many, Shirley Rae Pedersen, 79, of Snohomish, WA, passed away peacefully in her home on November 10, 2016, surrounded by her loving family after an extended illness. Shirley was born on June 7, 1937 in Everett, WA to Raymond and Fairy Monize. She was raised in Everett, WA, graduating from Everett High School in 1955 where she was active in competitive skating. Shirley then attended Everett Junior College where she was a Majorette. In 1961, she married Irwin L. "Pete" Pedersen from Bellingham, WA. Shirley loved the Snohomish area where she was a homemaker and an interior decorator for Lakeview Interiors. Her many hobbies included world travel, playing competitive bridge, flower arranging, and reading. Her love of entertaining was a highlight for she and Pete; their home always warm and inviting to their many friends. Shirley also had quite the fondness for shopping at Nordstrom's. She was an avid traveler, particularly through Asia, Hawaii, and on ocean cruises, and did so quite often through the years with Pete, family, and many friends. She was the quintessential tour guide. A special 'thank you' to the Evergreen Hospice Nurses and the many family and friends who cared for Shirley throughout her illness. She was preceded in death by her parents; Pete's parents, Andreas and Marie Pedersen of Bellingham; sister-in-law, Billye Monize of Camano Island; and some dear friends. Shirley is survived by her loving family: husband, Pete Pedersen; daughter, Pamela Pedersen from Mount Vernon, WA; son, Allen (Kate) Pedersen from Boise, ID; and daughter, Andrea (LTC John) Lloyd from Colorado Springs, CO; her nine grandchildren, Anna, Eric, Rachel, Sonja, Abby, Cory, Katy, Ty, and Monize; brother Robert Monize; sister, Linda Monize (Terry) O'Reilly; brother-in-law, Allen (Linda) Pedersen; many nieces, nephews, and dear family friends. Private interment will be at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to a . All friends and family are invited to a celebration of Shirley's life at the Mill Creek Golf and Country Club, 15500 Country Club Dr., Mill Creek, WA 98012 at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2016.
