Shirley R. Schmalz, age 83, of Hale passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016. She was born on Dec. 13, 1932 in Hale to Irvin and Rose (Humphrey) Teall. Shirley was a member of Hale Assembly of God Church. She loved antique glassware, finding bargains and loved her trees. One of her favorite sayings to her family was "As sure as the vine twines round the stump, you are my darling sugar lump." Shirley is survived by her children, Vicki Senesac of Berthlaud, Colo., Greg (Michelle) Pickett of Flint, Brad Pickett of Denver, Colo., Rocky Pickett of Hale, Yolanda (Walt) Winters of Virginia Beach, Va., Alice (Mike) Steele of Maryland, Sherri Schmalz-Rosecrans of Mt. Pleasant and Kelly (Ron) Doll of Hale; grandchildren, Julie O'Neill, Lindsay Senesac, Becky Jackson, Drew Pickett, Chris Pickett, Wally Winters, Andy Pickett, Steven Steele, Amanda Steele and Karli LaCosse; brothers, Vernon Teall of Georgia, Virgil Teall of Georgia and Elden Teall of Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.
