Shirley Ann (McKeithan) James, 74, of Rockwell, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016 at her home. She was the loving wife of Charles Charlie James to whom she was married 54 years. Shirley was born on Nov. 16, 1942 in Brunswick County to the late John C. and Rachel A. (Little) McKeithan. Shirley worked as a salesperson and interior designer in the furniture and drapery industry in Salisbury for many years until her retirement. She was a member of Wyatt's Grove Baptist Church in Salisbury. Shirley enjoyed sewing and tending to the flowers in her gaden. She also spent much of her time studying her Bible, which was one of her favorite things to do. Most of all, Shirley loved her family and she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her siblings, Gertrude Simmons, Jesse McKeithan, June Stafford, Burgwyn McKeithan and Ellis McKeithan. In addition to her husband Charlie, Shirley is survived by two sons, Charles Chuck T. James of Rockwell and Doug James of High Point; one brother, Fred McKeithan and wife Faye; three grandchildren, Makenzi James, Troy Kelley and Alisha Pressley; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation & Service: A visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, 2016 at Wyatt's Grove Baptist Church, on the corner of Bringle Ferry Rd. And Wyatt's Grove Church Rd. in Richfield. A memorial service will follow the visiation at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. David L. Jones, pastor, officiating.
