BENNER (nee Thompson), Shirley Ann Age 82 of Dayton, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Kettering Medical Center. She was born on July 9, 1934 in Kansas City, MO to the late Merrill and Ellen (Davies) Thompson. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Rita Agne; and brother David Thompson. Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, William, "Bill"; daughters, Brenda (Denny) Saunders and Laurie Benner; grandchildren, Erin (Jason) Doherty, Joseph Saunders, Annica Damico, Martina (Joey) Segovia, Austin Benner; brother-in-law, Robert Agne; a special aunt, Alice Walton of Lafayette, IN; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Shirley was a piano teacher for 40 years and owned Benner Piano Studio in Centerville, OH. She also leaves behind many students to cherish her memory. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016 from 10 am to 11 am at Newcomer Funeral Home- South Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, Ohio 45439. A memorial service will begin at 11 am with Pastor Brad Dardaganian of Sugar Creek Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow in Centerville Cemetery.
