She married her loving husband Wayne Fussell in 1966 and together they raised two children, Adam Douglas and Christie Corley. Shirley was a devoted member of the Fleming Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and was actively involved in various church organizations.

Shirley found joy in spending time with her family and cherished her role as a grandmother to four grandchildren. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

On October 11, 2024, Shirley passed away from a sudden heart attack, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion. A wake will be held on Sunday, October 13th at 10:00 AM at Williams Funeral Home in Hephzibah, Georgia, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.
