Shelby "Skip" Burl NealMANSFIELD: Shelby "Skip" Burl Neal, 89, of Mansfield passed away at Arbors of Mifflin on Friday, October 13, 2017. He was born on November 4, 1927 in Ameagle, West Virginia. He was the beloved son to the late Leonard and Goldie (Jeffers) Neal. Skip was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who loved his family very much. Skip was known to be innovative, ornery and a very forgiving man. He was gifted at fabrication and could make or fix anything. He enjoyed building sprint cars for his son to drive and was very successful as he had five championship cars. He worked as a machinist for thirty years and was a member the Local #169 Steel Workers Union. He was a member of Laver Road Freewill Baptist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed watching westerns.Left to cherish the memories they shared together are his wife of 68 years, Freda (Stover) Neal of Mansfield; two sons, Larry (Darlene Leicy) Neal of Lucas, and William "Bill" (Becki Perry) Neal of Shelby; two daughters, Patty (Dan) Benedict of Mansfield, and Cynthia (Brent Taylor) Furlong of Ontario; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two on the way; a sister, Marjorie Neal of West Virginia; two brothers, Glenn (Bredga) Neal of West Virginia and Teddy Neal of Florida; a brother-in-law, George (Janice) Stover of Mansfield; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Lesli Neal; sister-in-law, Sue Neal; brother, Eugene (Mary) Neal; and a sister, Grace (Forrest) Cantley.A memorial service officiated by Rev. Mark Bailey and Rev. Clifford Earl Tackett will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Mansfield Free Will Baptist Church, 998 Laver Road, Mansfield. Burial will take place in Sunset Cemetery in Bickmore, West Virginia at a later date.
