Shawn Kim Defils, known affectionately as Kim, peacefully passed away on February 25, 2024. Born on January 17, 1971, in Lafayette, LA. A beautiful dark-skinned boy was born to Solomon and Rosemary Defils-Baker. Shawn Kim had recently resided in Franklin, LA, where he embraced the beauty of life with 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Kim had a profound appreciation for the simple joys life had to offer. His favorite pastimes included having fun, enjoying the company of loved ones, listening to music, and creating cherished memories with his family. His joyful spirit and warm presence will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

One of Kim's commonly used phrases was "For sure," and that’ll work which served as a testament to his positive outlook on life. He believed in living each day to the fullest and finding joy in the little moments.

Shawn Kim is survived by his mother, Rose Mary Defils Mitchell (Johnson J. Mitchell Jr) 2 Sons, Chase Logan Defils and Jamal Johnson; sisters, Martina Baker, Yolanda Defils Welch (Lorenzo) 2 brothers, Paul Defils (Tiffany), and Quentin Defils (Bridgette). A host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. 

Kim was preceded in death by his father, Solomon Baker Jr. maternal grandparents, Gracie Defils Carter, Paternal grandparents Solomon Baker Sr.
